The academic year starts on 1 October and ends on 30 September of the following year, and is subdivided into two semesters: the first starts in October, the second in March.
Generally, classes in the first semester are held from October to January and those in the second from March to June.

Exams are carried out in sessions. These sessions are typically fixed, to respect the principle of not overlapping classes and exams.

Each course includes three or four ordinary sessions, one of which is at the end of the teaching period when the course is held and another of which is during the period of teaching silence in September. Each session includes a variable number of calls. The call date is the day on which the exam is held. For each session, individual courses must include at least two calls at least two weeks apart.

Complete information about the periods for courses, final exams, and dissertation defences is published on the department webpages.
